National Logistics
Management Awarded Ford Q1 Status
Detroit-based premium logistics firm
honored for quality of service
DETROIT, Mich., June 14, 2004 — National Logistics Management (NLM), the North
American logistics company that specializes in premium freight shipping
exclusively, is the recipient of Ford Motor Company’s prestigious Q1 Award for
quality of service. To achieve Q1 status, suppliers must undergo a rigorous
monitoring process and achieve metrics specified by Ford.
To initiate the award
evaluation process, Ford worked with NLM to identify both Ford’s requirements
for premium freight management and NLM’s critical internal objectives to meet
these requirements. Beginning in May 2003, the organizations cooperated in
developing metrics that were measured and strictly monitored. The major
objectives established were On Time Delivery – Ground Freight at 98 percent and
Air Freight at 96 percent. In addition, the Ford Q1 process requires that NLM
receive written endorsements from select Ford plants where it supplies premium
freight services.
NLM’s association with Ford
began 13 years ago when NLM handled premium freight for four Ford plants and
300 suppliers, expediting 12,000 shipments in one year. In year two, Ford added
three more plants. By 1996, NLM was working with 1,000 suppliers and moving
more than 100,000 premium shipments to Ford plants throughout the
“Receiving the Q1 Award is
an affirmation of the strong partnership we’ve developed with Ford over the years,”
said Scott Taylor, CEO of NLM. “Ford was NLM’s Flagship client when we opened our
doors in 1991. We are proud of the collaborative working environment and the high
quality of service we provide.”
