National Logistics
Management Announces Winners
of 2004 Carrier Awards
Premium freight logistics
company honors carriers for outstanding service
Detroit, Mich., March 21, 2005—National Logistics Management (NLM), the only North
American logistics provider to specialize solely in premium freight for
manufacturing industries, is presenting its first Carrier Awards to air freight
and ground freight carriers that have provided outstanding service in 2004. The
Awards are based on metrics from NLM’s Carrier Excellence Program and will
become an annual recognition for excellence in service. Since the awards
recognize carriers from broad geographies, they are being presented
individually to each carrier on-site at their facility.
NLM’s Carrier Excellence Program
outlines the expectations that NLM and its clients hold as the most important
factors of service quality and applies a point system to each carrier based on
cost and quality. NLM tracks shipments for more than 300 ground,
air freight and air charter carriers, and develops a “scorecard” on each
carrier that is shared with clients and carriers each month. NLM is non-asset
based and works in partnership with an extensive carrier base to manage premium
freight.
“We’re pleased to present
these service recognition awards to our carriers who’ve exhibited a consistent
outstanding level of service,” said Scott Taylor, CEO of National Logistics
Management. “Our carriers are an integral part of our premium freight operation
and we believe it’s important to acknowledge their demonstrated commitment to high
levels of customer service.”
NLM’s Carrier Awards are
presented in three categories: On-Time
Performance, Overall Performance and Special Recognition. For each category,
carriers are evaluated on service- and performance-related metrics.
The On-Time Performance
Award is based on shipping volume, which is determined by a review of shipping data
from 2004 and on-time delivery ratings. The Air Award has been presented to Stonepath Logistics, and the three Ground Awards, which are
based on the size of the company as well as the above criteria, will be
presented to Thompson Emergency, Hana Express, and
Prestige Delivery.
NLM utilizes its Carrier
Excellence Program to continuously evaluate carriers based on a variety of
performance metrics. Winners of the Overall Performance Award are determined by
a carrier’s Carrier Excellence Program scores across all of NLM’s business in
which they participate. The monthly
scorecards carriers received in 2004 were reviewed for the highest scores in
each category. The Air Award for Overall Performance will be presented to Sequoia
Airfreight, and the Ground Awards will be presented to Nitro Express, Express-1,
and First Class Expedited.
Two Special Recognition Award
will be presented to one U.S.-based carrier and one carrier based in
“This award is a prestigious
honor in the ground expediting community and a fantastic accomplishment for our
entire team," said Mike Welch, President of Express-1, which is being
honored with an Overall Performance Award. “We maintain an outstanding
relationship with the NLM team and share their passion for continuous
improvement and customer service.”
