National Logistics Management oversees all aspects of the kitting process at a major automotive parts operation. NLM provides assistance to the Material Control, Quality Control, and Production departments for all kitted parts and assembled kits issues.

Nearly 25% of the purchased parts for the transmissions are shipped to an external facility, placed in ergonomic kit trays and then shipped to the plant. The kits range from simple to highly complex kits containing several sub-assemblies.

The plant experiences a significant increase in productivity due to the use of kits. NLM maintains a minimal inventory of purchased parts at the kitting location, resolves quality issues on a timely basis, and provides detailed lot tracing to the plant as required. NLM's proven track record has awarded us the contracts to supply kits for additional transmissions.
